What is Veganism?

Veganism is the avoidance of eating animals or any animal bi-products. This includes meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, honey, animal gelatin, and any other derivative of an animal. Vegetarian, a very similar lifestyle, just excludes meat, and a pescetarian diet excludes meat but allows the consumption of fish. Veganism is not only a diet change, but a lifestyle change... It has been referenced to as a "compassionate" lifestyle aimed towards benefiting animals (us humans included too.)

  1. Interesting blog. I know of this really good vegan cart on SW Powell called Nutri taco that is super tasty. I never thought that eating vegan food could be filling and enjoyable but I was wrong. It would be cool to know of some other vegan places around Portland for those who are interested in giving it a try!

  2. I have to recommend the BEST Vegan pizza (ever) at Oasis Cafe in Hawthorne! The prices are quite reasonable as well.

I would like to also mention that even replacing one meal a day with a Vegan (or even Vegetarian) meal can immensely reduce that carbon footprint as well. I will gladly look up some statistics on how much emissions you are preventing by doing that one day-switch. Thanks for your comment.
